Milan: Fashion Week, the Galleria and Fine Gold
Milan has held its fashion week since 1958 and has led Italian fashion since the 1970s. It is home to the designers behind some of the gold jewelry and sunglasses we carry.

A Fashion Week Since 1958
Milan Fashion Week was established in 1958 and has been held twice a year ever since, with women's and men's collections. With New York, Paris and London, it is one of the four major fashion weeks. Florence had been the centre of Italian fashion in the 1950s and 1960s; from the 1970s, Milan led the way.

The City's Drawing Room
At the heart of the city, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II joins Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala under two glass-vaulted arcades. The architect Giuseppe Mengoni built it between 1865 and 1877. It is Italy's oldest active shopping arcade, and the Milanese call it il salotto di Milano, the city's drawing room.
Gold Jewelry
Most of the Milan jewelry we carry is 18-karat gold: the Crescent choker, a smooth chain that follows the line of the neck; the Trace necklace, centred on a baroque pearl; and the Line rope-chain ring, a supple 2 mm chain that shapes itself to the finger.

The Halo bracelet, a 2 mm chain in yellow, rose and white gold, takes charms, and the Trace bracelet sets Akoya pearls along a fine curb chain, each held between two knots.

Sunglasses
Our round bio-acetate sunglasses are designed in Milan and made by Italian artisans in Cadore, in tobacco tortoiseshell and black.
